The Joy of Easter

Hope your Easter is as happy as ours here! Dorin invited us to an Easter party at 10 a.m. on Sunday morning in Vila Duta.

When we arrived, the kids were about to go to the park to hunt for eggs, balls, oranges, and other goodies. The children were from the International School of Bogor - ISB. As usual, Ob was too lazy to walk, so Daddy let him ride on his shoulders.

Alex and Ob were hunting for eggs while I took photos of them. Mintje gave directions to Ob from afar. Actually, it was nice that Alex stayed close to Ob. In the end, Ob collected lots of eggs, oranges, balls, and crackers.

What I really liked was that once a child had found 10 eggs, they were encouraged to help other kids or share what they had with their friends. It was a great lesson for Ob—to learn how to share and help others.

Back at the house, we continued decorating and painting the eggs. There were flowers in big pots, colorful ribbons—what else? So many decorations! As Burney said, “Just use your imagination to make your egg and rattan basket look beautiful.” It was so much fun!

The house itself was the most beautiful open-air house I had ever seen. It was perfect for a family that loved having people over. It reminded me of our own tropical-style house, but unlike ours, it was truly open-air—no “Close the Door!” or “No Mosquitoes!” signs like we have at home, haha!

And the food—oh gosh, it was amazing! We brought Cumi Tinta that Ibu Tini had cooked, and it was a hit too. Ob then played with a bunch of toys he found in the garage, which was like a mini playroom for kids. He was completely content playing on his own.

While I was sitting in the backyard, Alex came over and told me that it might be possible to enroll Ob in ISB so he could learn to speak English. That was such wonderful news to receive on Easter!

Once again, Happy Easter, everyone!
