Nature of Commitment
The Department of Home Affairs ultimately requires us to submit our evidence within the following 4 categories to prove our relationship is ‘genuine and continuing’
- Financial aspects of your relationship
- Nature of your household
- Social aspects of your relationship
- Nature of your commitment
Written as part of an 820 partner visa assignment, Nature of commitment. This statement will help prove that our relationship is genuine and sustainable.
This part is to show that you are in a committed and ongoing relationship. Proof that you have intent to be in a long-term relationship with one another. To show that you have a good understanding of each others personal ‘beliefs‘ and circumstances, how you support each other emotionally etc. This can also be evidenced by any future plans you have together.
On 3 March 2020, I arrived in Melbourne and not long after Covid-19 spread and became a pandemic. Australia decided to close its borders to visitors and many Australians could not return to their country. Under these circumstances, we both decided to extend my tourist visa up to 3 times. We don't want to be apart in these uncertain times, we want to look after each other and we feel we are safe here in Melbourne. My mother had to die because of COVID-19. Due to the limited number of nurses and doctors in the emergency department, my mother had to wait 2 days in the hospital hallway until she received treatment, but a few hours later my mother died.
In the middle 2020 to early 2022, we chose to extend the tourist visa up to 3 times. we couldn't choose a partner visa because the documents were incomplete. We have to wait for Covid 19 to decrease and for the Australian borders to reopen so we can return to Indonesia and complete the documents required for partner visas. Now the documents are complete but there is a little problem, Sinyo's health is a little bad, which made us decide to start the onshore visa process so that I can focus on taking care of him and dividing my time between studying and preparing for work.
