God is Good

I just have to share how incredibly good God is. He sent amazing people into my life when I had absolutely no idea what to do. All I did was pray and remind myself, 'God's brought me this far... He won't leave me alone.'

On Thursday, April 18th, I got help from a government-funded community service to find a job. They took care of everything: resume, cover letter, job search, and even sending out applications. I just had to wait for a call.

Then, on Monday, April 22nd, I got a call from an agency for a hotel job. Turns out, the community service had submitted my resume for a housekeeping position. The agent asked for my address and found a hotel near my place. The work hours fit perfectly with my school schedule. All I needed was a black uniform and shoes. My partner wasn't keen on buying them, and I was completely broke. So, I called the community service, and they told me to come to their office the next day. They gave me $100.

It's unbelievable how God works in my life. Overwhelmed with emotion, I accidentally mentioned that I had been kicked out of my house three weeks prior. They were shocked and immediately told me to call 1800RESPECT. 1800RESPECT is the national online and telephone counseling and support service for people who have experienced, or are at risk of experiencing, sexual assault and domestic and family violence, their family and friends, and frontline and isolated workers.

They asked me a lot of questions. She was concerned about my mental health, even though I explained I wasn't physically hit, just verbally abused. I wasn't allowed to work, and when he got angry, all the money in our joint savings was withdrawn, leaving nothing.

She took it seriously and asked if I'd be willing to share my story with Orange Door? It's a community service that supports women, children, and young people experiencing family violence, so my data could be in their system too. I spent over three hours on the phone with them.

In the end, they gave me $400 and assured me that if I ever experienced violence again, they would pick me up and take me to a safe place. They made sure I could find a job and live safely here. I received a total of $500 in assistance, which was completely unexpected.

I'm so grateful to know I'm not alone in this, Ua. They've been monitoring my situation since Tuesday, even though I'm doing much better now.

Yesterday, I opened a savings account at Commonwealth Bank, as suggested by Orange Door, because this bank has a domestic and family violence assistance program, which supports customers affected by such situations.

Ua, thank you for your prayers. You're one of the angels God sent my way.

May this new chapter be filled with an abundance of blessings and joy, bringing positivity and happiness into your life. Embrace the journey ahead with open arms and let the beauty of each moment fill your heart with hope and gratitude."
